Top 5 Things Admission Counselors Do On The Road<\/title><\/p>\n<p> Throughout the fall of each school 12 months, I travel…a great deal. We wake up early, catch flights across the national nation, and search the Hertz parking great deal for rental cars with backup cameras. We like to explore cities and discover about where you live. Understanding where you come from, helps us understand your application. We want to get a feel for the community and experience that which you experience on a basis that is daily. We tried a fantastic place that is greek week which was in a totally random location…thanks Yelp!<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<footer>\n<div>\n<section>\n<div>\n<div>\n<h1>Ms. BB Goes Back to School…as a Music Business Significant!<\/h1>\n<p>Though I LOVED studying English in university (it’s useful—I promise!), I’m somewhat curious about most of the other majors out there. What if I had chosen to study something entirely different? Would time and room be irrevocably altered?! most likely not, but at least I might experienced a college experience that is totally different. We decided the only way to understand was to ‘go back’ to school…this time as a Music Industry major!<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Quinn and me: I feel like our option in glasses accurately reflect our option in majors…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>I’ve known Quinn Kurzner since I worked at their high school several years ago. Maybe it is because he is a really nice person; whatever the reason, Quinn graciously allowed me to shadow him a couple of weeks ago so I could see what it would have been like if I had gone to USC as a Music Industry major because we go way back, maybe it’s because this blog is so highly regarded, or maybe it’s. Dressed in a USC top and flip-flops (a.k.a. student incognito), I sat in on one of his classes, MUIN 475—Advanced Concert Management. That’s right…it ended up being straight towards the leagues that are big! Professor Mike Garcia’s class had been a whole brand new world for me personally. The day’s focus had been ticket sales plus the negotiations between concert promoters, artists, and venues. It in fact was a lot to cover for someone who has only visited one genuine concert (Bruuuuuuuuuce!), but the Professor tied in so many different some ideas it was easy to choose a lens that permitted me to see the material obviously.<\/p>\n<p> If you have visited a USC admission presentation, you’ve most likely heard us boast about our approach that is interdisciplinary to. I happened to be able to have a style of this in simply one class! Since the teacher and students went back and forth with their some ideas, they touched on everything from Ohm’s law to dynamic pricing models to Anderson .Paak. I was very impressed by Professor Garcia’s expertise, but also by the knowledge that is professional pupils had. I could see the way L.A.’s music scene played a key role in their Thornton education as they drew on examples from their own internships, jobs, and concert-going experiences. We at USC always talk how the city is our classroom, and I could note that hand that is first.<\/p>\n<p>I could literally go on about Advanced Concert Management…but I don’t away want to give any trade secrets, and there’s more to being a music industry major than simply one class! So what else do music industry majors do? I asked Quinn…<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They jam on instruments: One of the popular’s requirements is six units of theory\/instrument study. Quinn took two semesters of piano and is guitar that is currently learning. He was a percussionist in high school, so he’s appreciating the chance to learn about musical finally notes!<\/li>\n<li>They do their research: Quinn’s study group had just wrapped up a project preparing a 20 city tour for a musical organization. They researched everything from which markets were popular to your cost of resorts to labor laws for bus drivers! That was also a pool party in last year’s Live Music Production and Promotion course, Quinn’s group produced a live show! It’s really obvious that the assignments are engaging, effective, and informative for the students.<\/li>\n<li>They just take Pop Forum: This class—a two semester requirement for all Popular Music, Music Industry, and Music Production majors—is a venue for students to study on guest speakers. Most recently, Quinn attended a lecture by way of a guitar maker and had use of a screening that is advanced of new Beatles documentary, <em>8 Days per Week<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>They have internships: After the Palladium’s production manager presented to certainly one of his classes, Quinn implemented up and (long story short) interned this summer time. Though some individuals start in the songs industry without any formal study, Quinn believes his USC education sets him apart. While an internship is a learning experience, Quinn claims, ‘I’m not there in order to be taught. He has long been driven and concentrated, additionally the Music Industry major in Thornton is really so demonstrably the fit that is perfect him.
